ABOUT

I'M BARBARA

I am a board-certified adult and geriatric psychiatrist, and am also certified in addiction medicine.  I have over 15 years of experience in mental health care. As a mother, wife, and daughter, I intimately understand the challenges of the sandwich generation—those who care for aging parents while raising children. This personal experience, combined with my professional expertise, inspired me to create the Aging Parent Plan. Through my work as The Aging Parent Coach, I provide compassionate guidance to help adult children navigate the emotional and practical complexities of caring for their aging parents. My mission is to improve relationships, reduce stress, and empower individuals to care for their parents with confidence and empathy, all while maintaining balance in their own lives.

MY STORY

As a mother, wife, and daughter, I am part of the sandwich generation—those tasked with caring for aging parents while raising children. My personal experience in this role, along with my extensive work as a geriatric psychiatrist, revealed a widespread struggle among families: the emotional and logistical challenges of transitioning from child to caregiver.

Seeing the overwhelming need for support, I created the Aging Parent Plan, a comprehensive program designed to guide adult children through this difficult process. With a deep understanding of both the mental health and practical aspects of caregiving, I help families navigate legal issues, stress management, relationship dynamics, and caregiving responsibilities. My  approach focuses on easing suffering, strengthening family bonds, and empowering my clients to show up for their aging parents with confidence and compassion, all while minimizing the guilt and regret that often accompany these transitions.
